All aspects covering the development of the Azerbaijan customs sector were discussed at the joint business forum organised by the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Caspian European Club (CEIBC) on April 30, Baku, and chaired by Aydin Aliyev, the Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The business Forum was held within the framework of events dedicated to the 91th anniversary of Nationwide Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev.
At the business forum the heads of CEIBC member companies listened to the information about the activity of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan Republic State Customs Committee Chairman Aydin Aliyev noted that the meeting of CEIBC member companies with the representatives of government agencies is the continuation of the economic policy of Nationwide Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev. The exchange of opinions between the Customs Committee and the companies began 3 years ago. During the meeting held last year in Dublin, the heads of the Customs Committees of the European Union exchanged opinions on this issue. The discussion of this issue was for the first time held in Georgia in March of this year and a year ago at the session of the Caspian European Club.
Then, Aydin Aliyev noted that the Caspian European Club is contributing to the development of entrepreneurship and economy of Azerbaijan, and in this way promoting the enhancement of operation of the government of agencies. Addressing the session, he also noted about his participation in the I International Caspian Energy Forum that Baku had hosted recently.
Then, the Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan spoke about considerable changes made in the customs system since January 1, 2012. Now the customs system is functioning in accordance with generally recognized world standards.
At present, Azerbaijan holds the 39th position among 138 countries on the rate of transparency of the customs service operation.
Aydin Aliyev also noted that in June of the past year one of the representatives of Azerbaijan was elected Deputy Chairman of the World Customs Organization which brings together 81 countries.
In conclusion, Aydin Aliyev thanked the Club for organizing events promoting business development not only in Azerbaijan but also beyond the country.
Addressing the forum, Chief Executive Officer of the Caspian European Club (CEIBC) Telman Aliyev thanked Aydin Aliyev for a constructive dialogue and his attention to proposals and requests stated by the CEIBC member companies during the event. According to him, the CEIBC was established in June 2002 in association with the Caspian Energy International Media Group and under support of the largest oil and gas companies working in the Caspian-Black Sea region. His Excellency President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev is the Chairman of CEIBC. According to Telman Aliyev, since its very establishment the CEIBC has promoted attraction of oil sector revenues into the development of the non-oil sector. CEIBC is operating in 50 countries worldwide, carrying out an active work to support the dialogue between government agencies and the private sector.
The Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Aydin Aliyev was granted the CEIBC Honorary Membership Certificate. In turn, Aydin Aliyev handed certificates to member companies of the CEIBC, in particular to AGA Group of Companies, SINAM, Aral Group, Atropatena, Mustafa Tayat, Lindab Buildings, Murphy Shipping&Commercial Services Azerbaijan JV, and Asia Sky Express & OCS. The event was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shakhin Baghirov, Chairman of the Main Department of the Financial-Tariff and Currency Control under the State Customs Control of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mirgasym Vahabov, Chairman of the Main Department of Customs Control under the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Javad Hasymov, the Chief of the Main Department of Statistics and Information Technologies under the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Igbal Babayev, heads of companies and the ambassadors of the countries of the Caspian-Black Sea region and the EU accredited in Azerbaijan.
