The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee announced a decrease in the volume of foreign trade operations by 14.46 percent in January-April 2014 compared to the same period of last year, the committee said on May 16.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners for this period numbered 122 countries.

The total trade turnover of Azerbaijan was estimated at $9.89 billion, according to the report.

Black ink exceeding $4.42 billion was formed in foreign trade operations.

About 3,548 legal and physical entities were involved in foreign economic activities during this period, 2,513 being legal entities and 1,035 physical entities, according to the report.

Export operations reached $7.16 billion in January-April which is 14.98 percent less compared to the same period of 2013.

The public sector share in export operations was estimated at $6.8 billion (94.97 percent), the private sector share - $344.06 million (4.81 percent) and physical entities' share- $17.87 million (0.25 percent).

Imports were estimated at $2.73 billion in January-April which is 13.07 percent less compared to the same period of 2013.

The public sector share in import operations was estimated at $755.48 million (27.63 percent), private sector share- $1.88 billion (68.86 percent) and physical entities share - $97.56 million (4.07 percent).

About 1,292 kinds of goods were exported and 4,801 imported to Azerbaijan in January-April.
