Kazakh Emergency Situations Ministry will purchase over 100 various kinds of equipment in 2014, according to Emergency Situations Minister, Vladimir Bozhko.

Minister Bozhko made the remarks on Monday, May 19 during a 'government hour' held at the lower chamber of Kazakh parliament.

Bozhko said that in 2014 the ministry will purchase four 'EC-145' helicopters, 115 fire-fighting and rescue types of equipment, 2,251 kinds of communication equipment, as well as office and technical equipment.

He went on to add that last year the ministry acquired four 'EC-145' helicopters, 166 fire-fighting and rescue types of equipment, 2,435 kinds of communication equipment, as well as office and technical equipment.

The minister also said that the growth in the ministry's budget has been retained.

"The ministry's total budget for 2014 stands at 100.8 billion tenges (182.01 tenge = 1 dollar), including the development budget - 20.6 billion tenges, and the current budget - 80.2 billion tenges," the minister said.

He also stressed that disaster medicine and air medical service are developing in the country.

"Some 3,305 emergency calls were responded to during the reporting period [2013], 4,054 injured people were provided with medical care, and 1,213 people were taken to hospitals. Some 14 'EC-145' and two 'Ka-32' helicopters were purchased for the development of air ambulance services under the 'Salamatty Kazakhstan' state program, making it possible to provide all the regional centers of the country with air ambulance helicopters," Bozhko said.
