Kazakh Minister of Economy and Budget Planning Yerbolat Dossayev discussed prospects of cooperation with Director of the Eastern Partnership and Central Asia Department of the European Investment Bank Heinz Olbers.

"Kazakhstan intends to continue effective cooperation with the European Investment Bank in the field of energy, infrastructure, industrial production and agriculture, as well as to consider an opportunity to increase project funding involving the European Investment Bank," he said.

The sides discussed prospects of signing the Framework Partnership Agreement between the government of the Republic and the bank. It envisages the development of the financial sector, small and medium business, infrastructure, including transport, energy and urban development, as well as private sector development, including public-private partnerships and other areas.

Some 500 billion tenge are allocated from the Kazakh National Fund this year to support and stimulate the economic growth.

These funds are spent for lending to small and medium-sized business (100 billion tenge), funding for the industrial and innovative development (150 billion tenge), as well as rehabilitating the banking sector (250 billion tenge).

Currently, the framework partnership agreements were signed between the Kazakh government and the World Bank Group, as well as the Asian Development Bank to strengthen cooperation with international financial institutions. A similar agreement is expected to be signed with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
