Azerbaijan is interested in increasing exports to different regions of Russia, Azerbaijani Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) President Rufat Mammadov said.

Mammadov made the remarks at the Azerbaijani-Russian business forum with the participation of delegations from Udmurtia and Kaluga region of Russia on June 4.

He said that over the past four years more than 23 events with the participation of business circles of Azerbaijan and Russia were conducted through AZPROMO.

"There is a very strong legal base for the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries. More than 160 interagency, interstate and intergovernmental treaties and agreements, as well as more than 30 agreements in the economic sphere, were signed, including agreements on avoidance of double taxation and free trade," he said.

Mammadov noted that during 2002-2013 years, the volume of Russian investments in Azerbaijan's economy exceeded $600 million.

"Along with this, the Azerbaijani entrepreneurs actively invest in Russia's economy. So, over the same period, the volume of the Azerbaijani investments in Russia exceeded one billion dollars," said Mammadov, adding that Azerbaijan is one of the few countries that also works with different regions of Russia.

"Despite the fact that compared with other regions of Russia, the figures of turnover with Udmurtia and Kaluga region are low, Azerbaijani companies are interested in supplying various kinds of products to the markets of Udmurtia and Kaluga", he said.
