Kazakhstan will develop three types of clusters: national, territorial and innovative.

The Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan Asset Issekeshev made the remarks in his speech at the 27th meeting of Foreign Investors Council.

"The formation of the clusters based on competitive advantages of regions has started even in the first five-year in the country. We will develop three types of clusters: national, territorial and innovative," he said.

The minister recalled that the first national pilot cluster formed in the extraction and refining of oil, petrochemical, oil and gas mechanical engineering and services with the city center in the Atyrau region.

"With regard to territorial clusters, their state support will be conducted on a competitive basis. The innovative clusters are developing in two major metropolitan areas - Almaty and Astana with the center at the "Alatau" innovation park and Nazarbayev University," he said.

The formation of clusters will be based on regional specialization using various tools support: SECs, grants, creating a "soft" infrastructure (laboratories, special education, design offices, etc.), he said.
