SOCAR specifies forecasts on oil and gas production in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is expected to produce around 41.2 million metric tons of oil and 28.8 billion cubic meters of gas in 2014, the head of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) Rovnag Abdullayev said in an interview with the website of the Yeni Azerbaijan ruling party published Sept.19.

Azerbaijan produced 43.48 million metric tons of oil and 29.46 billion cubic meters of gas in 2013, according to SOCAR.

In January-August, the country produced 28.6 million metric tons of oil and 20.4 billion cubic meters of gas, Abdullayev said. Some 5.6 million metric tons of oil and 5 billion cubic meters of gas of the total production for 8 months fell on the SOCAR company.
SOCAR includes Azneft (onshore and offshore oil and gas producing companies), Azerkimya (chemical industry) and Azerigas production associations. In addition, the State Oil Company has a number of processing enterprises, service enterprises, institutions involved in geophysical and drilling operations.

SOCAR is the only oil producer in Azerbaijan (it has two refineries on its balance), and also owns petrol stations in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Romania and Switzerland. SOCAR is a co-owner of the largest Turkish petrochemical complex Petkim and other assets in Turkey.
