Foreign trade surplus amounts to nearly $11B in Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee announced a decrease in the volume of foreign trade operations by 8.6 percent in January-September 2014 compared to the same period of last year, the committee said Oct. 14.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners for this period numbered 141 countries.

The total trade turnover of Azerbaijan exceeded $23.88 billion, according to the report.
Black ink worth over $10.834 billion was formed in foreign trade operations.

Foreign trade surplus was $9.99 billion in the same period of last year, while $2 billion as of September 2014.

About 5,371 legal and physical entities were involved in foreign economic activities during this period, 3,371 being legal entities and 2,000 physical entities, according to the report.

Export operations reached $17.35 billion in January-September, which is 3.88 percent less compared to the same period of 2013.

The public sector share in export operations was estimated at $16.391 billion, the private sector share - $832.2 million and physical entities' share- $133.537 million.

Imports exceeded $6.52 billion in January-September, which is 19.16 percent less compared to the same period of 2013.

The public sector share in import operations was estimated at $1.690 billion, private sector share- $4.57 billion and physical entities share - $261.3 million.

About 1,914 kinds of goods were exported from and 5,724 imported to Azerbaijan in January-September.
