Total shares fall 2.2% following CEO's death

Stock quotes of the Total SA, the largest oil and gas company of France, fell by 2.2 percent since the opening of auctions in Paris Oct.21, Interfax news agency said.

ADS Total fell by 1.1 percent on the extra auctions after the closing of the main session in the United States.

The President of Total French oil company, Christophe de Margerie, was killed on the night of Oct.21. His private jet crashed in the Vnukovo-3 Airport in Moscow after the aircraft hit a snow removal vehicle on takeoff.

The corporation issued a statement in which it confirmed the death of de Margerie. The victims of the accident were four people aboard the plane while trying to take off. A criminal investigation has been launched.

Christophe de Margerie, who was 63 years old, arrived in Moscow in order to attend the meeting of the consultative council on foreign investment in the Russian Federation, which was held in Gorky Oct.20 by the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
