The number of incidents of pharmacueticals poisoning has increased in Iran because of improper use of medicines, the expert of the Food and Drug Administration under the Iranian Ministry of Health Yasna Behmanesh was quoted Oct. 22 by Iranian news agency Mehr as saying.

"Around 747 people appealed to the administration after a diagnosis of medicine poisoning in 2013," he said. "The figure was 284 people for the first five months of this year."

"Around 60 out of 100 people who appealed to the "Logman" clinic ("Witch Doctor") in Iran had a diagnosis of medicine poisoning in 2011-2013," he said. "In general, around 24,500 patients with this diagnosis appealed in 2013."

He said that 60-70 percent of patients appealing to the clinics in Mashhad and Isfahan were diagnosed with medicine poisoning, of which three percent were children.
