Kish-Istanbul direct cargo flight to be launched

Iran and Turkey plan to launch a direct cargo flight between Kish Island and Istanbul in near future.

The Managing Director of Kish Free Zone Organization Ali Asghar Mounesan said that a direct passenger flight between the two cities would also be operational as of Nov. 16, Iran's Mehr Nes Agency reported on Nov. 9.

"The flight will be operational on Sundays and Wednesdays," he said.

According to Mounesan, each passenger is allowed to carry 50 kilograms of baggage.

"The two-way ticket's price will be 7.5 million tomans (some $234.3 based on the exchange rate of US dollar in the free market)," he said.

Turkey is among top exporters of goods to Iran.

Ankara exported 1.973 million metric tons of goods worth $2.233 billion to Iran in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 - October 22).

The figure accounts for 7.38 percent of Iran's total imports.

Iran's total foreign trade amounted to $57.214 billion in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year.

Iran's non-oil exports accounted for $26.943 billion of the mentioned amount, while imports accounted for $30.271 billion.
