Kazakhstan transports 1.4M tons of grain through Estonia since early 2014

Some 1.4 million metric tons of Kazakh grain have been transported by transit through the territory of Estonia during 2014

Some 1.4 million metric tons of Kazakh grain have been transported by transit through the territory of Estonia during 2014, the Chief of Transport Development and Investment of the Ministry of Economy and infrastructure of Estonia Toomas Haydaks told Trend.

He said that in general, the volume of transshipment of grain from other countries, including Kazakhstan through Estonian ports totaled 20 million metric tons for a year.

"Although our capacities could easily transport two times more, i.e. 40 million metric tons," said Toomas Haydaks.

Transshipment volume of Kazakh oil, gas oil, gasoline amounted to 1.4 million metric tons, said Haydaks.

In turn, the minister of the economy and infrastructure of Estonia Urve Palo said that the main advantage of the transit through Estonia is well-developed infrastructure in good condition, technical equipment, electronic security and lack of corruption.
