Kosman Aitmukhametov was appointed deputy akim (mayor) of Astana, a statement posted on the website of Astana says.
"Kosman Aitmukhametov will be charged with the life support and development of infrastructure in the capital, namely the coordination of activity of the power plants, water supply and gas supplying organizations," a statement says. "Aitmukhametov will control the implementation of regional programs in the field of life support, environmental protection and nature management."
Astana's mayor Adilbek Zhaksybekov introduced his new deputy to the staff and thanked Vasily Krylov, who previously held this post, for his work.
In different periods Aitmukhametov was Akim (Governor) of Akmola region, Vice-Minister of Regional Development, Chairman of the Committee for Construction, Housing and Communal Services and Land Management of the Kazakh Ministry of National Economy.
