By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran's chamber of commerce chairman says the private sector should have greater share in national economic plans.

Gholam Hossein Shafei added that 2,800 development projects are semi-finished in the country, Iran's Taadol newspaper reported on November 17.

Some $31 billion has been so far spent to complete the projects, but still $125 billion is needed, he said.

"Some of the neighboring countries have gained more notable achievements than us, although they have not implemented long-term development plans like us. So, we should accept the fact that we have not been able to implement development plans successfully," he stated.

Over the past five years, just 57 percent of the approved development budget has been allocated on average, he said.
