Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has instructed to ensure tight control in the country's agricultural industry, a message from the country's government said on Nov.25.

The draft program for the rational use of land and water resources and increasing crop yields in Turkmenistan for the period of 2015-2030 was presented during the teleconference.

The head of state said that the new program should envisage the mechanisms of careful and rational use of land and water resources, concrete practical steps aimed at the intensive development of agriculture, increasing the productivity and efficient use of each hectare of land.

"Thereby, Turkmen president instructed to thoroughly re-examine this issue jointly with the corresponding structures which will be involved in the implementation of this program," said the message.

The layout diagram of new cultivated lands which are planned to be developed, was also presented during the government meeting.

Turkmenistan grows cotton, wheat, rice and sugar beets.
