Georgian Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Turkmen Minister of Economy and Development Vepa Abdylhekimov signed a protocol of the second session of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.

The sides' desire of intensifying the bilateral cooperation in various fields was reflected in the protocol.

"We signed the protocol of the meeting of the bilateral commission," Kvirikashvili said. "It is very important to cooperate with Turkmenistan as part of the Great Silk Road. This cooperation must be of a strategic nature. It is also important that Afghanistan joins the TRACECA project upon the new initiative. The transit development is also important."

"We also discussed the opportunities delivered to the Turkmen businessmen to invest in Georgia," he said. "They were interested in the tourism sector. Turkmenistan has rich experience in the textile sector, technology parks. I think that this was an initial meeting to bring our relations to a new stage.
