KazTransGas begins large-scale gasification in South Kazakhstan

KazTransGas JSC, the national operator in the field of gas and gas supply in Kazakhstan, began large-scale gasification of settlements of Maktaaral district of South Kazakhstan region, the press service of the JSC said Dec.11.

The solemn ceremony of gas supply to the village Myrzakent of Maktaaral district of South Kazakhstan region, which is carried out by KazTransGas Aimak (subsidiary of KazTransGas JSC), took place, the press service said.

"The supply of gas to the village Myrzakent is the beginning of large-scale gasification of Maktaaral district, which is a home to the largest population - more than 300,000 people," said the message of the company. "There are 182 settlements altogether in the district, only 26 of them have been supplied with gas as of early 2014."

About 130 kilometers of the gas pipelines: 66.039 kilometers in rural district Karakai, 36.124 kilometers in the rural district Atameken, 27.841 kilometers in the rural district Zhylysu have already been built and are ready for operation within the framework of this project, according to the press service.

"The first 30 homes received natural gas," said the press release. "It is planned that by the end of 2014, natural gas will come to the house of 200 subscribers, or more than 1,000 villagers of Myrzakent."

At present, more than 7,000 enterprises and 240,000 subscribers receive gas in South Kazakhstan region, which accounts for more than 1 million residents. By 2020, the company plans to complete gasification of Maktaaral district with 100-percent natural gas supply to the entire population of the district.
