The Azerbaijani market is one of the ten most important markets for Poland, Polish Minister of Economy Janusz Piechociński said during the Azerbaijani-Polish Business Forum in Baku Dec. 15.

"The Azerbaijani-Polish trade turnover amounted to $150 million in 2013, which is 20.6 percent more than in 2012," he said. "The trade turnover between the countries increased by 26 percent in January-September 2014. The Azerbaijani market is one of the ten most important markets for Poland."

Piechociński said that currently, more than 550 Polish companies export their products to Azerbaijan.

"Poland considers the construction, housing and communal services, transport, agriculture, food industry, power engineering, environmental protection, chemical industry, logistics and transport as promising for cooperation with Azerbaijan," the minister said.

He stressed that the Polish companies' visit to the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park will open up great opportunities for cooperation.

Piechociński said that the Azerbaijani companies' activity in Poland increases in such areas as transport, power engineering, chemical industry, construction of roads and bridges.

"Azerbaijani goods worth $4.3 million were sold on the Polish market in 2011-2012," he said. "The volume increased up to $19.9 million in 2013, while $ 24 million in January-September 2014."
