Kazakhstan's national atomic company Kazatomprom has signed an agreement with the China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC) to expand and intensify the mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.

Kazakhstan's national atomic company Kazatomprom has signed an agreement with the China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC) to expand and intensify the mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.

The document was signed following a meeting of the Kazakh-Chinese Business Council with the participation of heads of governments of the two countries.

"The new agreement envisages the establishment of joint ventures on nuclear fuel production on the territory of Kazakhstan," Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna joint-stock company, as part of Kazatomprom, said.

The Kazakh-Chinese Business Council was established in 2013 upon the instructions of two presidents.

The Council was established to further promote the trade-economic cooperation, develop the cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in various fields of economy. A meeting of the council was held on September 7, 2013.
