Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that in case of choosing Almaty as a venue for holding the Olympic Games-2022, the capital of the country will also be involved in this event.
"I also doubt," President Nazarbayev said at a meeting with representatives of the Kazakh TV channels in Akorda. "We would like everybody to hear that Almaty, Kazakhstan intends to hold such giant Olympic Games. On the other hand, people think whether these costs are worth it or not. I was thinking about this much and worked with colleagues. The Olympic Committee made a decision. It was agreed to hold the event in two cities, that is, Astana will be also involved."
He recalled that it is necessary to take into account the Medeu skating rink in Almaty and the world-class ski jump.
"We built biathlon for the Asian Games," he said. "Universiade will be held in 2017. The ice stadium is under construction. It is necessary to build the Olympic village. We intend to build a hostel for young people, Almaty students. After the Olympic Games are over, the hostel will remain and will be fully used."
Huge funds will be spent for a bobsled track in Almaty.
"There will be some expenses," the president said. "The International Olympic Committee intends to allocate $1 billion."
