Azerbaijan maintains leading position in Georgia’s export market

Azerbaijan accounted for 19.4 percent of Georgia's export volume in Jan.-Nov. 2014, Georgian National Statistics Office (GeoStat) said in its report on foreign trade as of the fist eleven months of 2014.

Around $510.7 million worth of goods were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in Jan.-Nov., according to the report.

The country's export to Azerbaijan decreased by 21 percent compared to the same period of 2013. By comparison, some $646.75 million worth of Georgian goods were exported to Azerbaijan in Jan.-Nov. 2014.

Georgia mainly exports cars, cattle, medicines, cement and other products.
Armenia ranks second for the volume of products exported from Georgia, according to GeoStat.

Around $269.37 million worth of Georgian products (10.2 percent of the total volume of export) have been exported to Armenia since early 2014, said the report.

Russia ranks third in Georgia's export market. About $253.69 million worth of Georgian products (9.7 percent of the total volume of Georgia's export) were exported to this country in Jan.-Nov. 2014.

The trade turnover between Georgia and Azerbaijan stood at almost $1.077 billion (10.4 percent of the total volume of Georgia's foreign trade operations) in Jan.-Nov. 2014, which is 9.7 percent less than in the same period of 2013. By comparison, the trade turnover between the two counties totaled $1.19 billion in Jan.-Nov. 2013.
