Some 16,800 cars worth a total of $252.3 million, were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in Jan.-Nov. 2014, Georgian National Statistics Office (GeoStat) said in its report on the first eleven months of 2014.

The share of this category of goods in the total volume of Georgian export to Azerbaijan stood at 50.9 percent during the reporting period, according to GeoStat.

This is while Azerbaijan's share in the export of this category of goods from Georgia equaled 49.4 percent.

The volume of car export to Azerbaijan decreased by 31.8 percent in terms of value and by 24,400 (59.2 percent) in terms of quantity compared to the same period of 2013.
By comparison, some 41,160 cars worth of $369.82 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in Jan.-Nov. 2013.

The decline in the volume of car exports to the country is the result of Azerbaijan's transition to Euro-4 ecological standard, the use of which began from April 1, 2014. The adoption of Euro-4 standard significantly restricts the import of used cars which account for the major part of vehicles exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan.
Cars are delivered to Georgia from abroad.

Azerbaijan accounted for 19.4 percent of Georgia's export volume in Jan.-Nov. 2014. Around $510.7 million worth of goods were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in the first eleven months of 2014.

The country's export to Azerbaijan decreased by 21 percent compared to the same period of 2013. By comparison, some $646.75 million worth of Georgian goods were exported to Azerbaijan in Jan.-Nov. 2014.

Azerbaijan ranks first among the countries to which Georgia exports its goods, followed by Armenia ($269.37 million), Russia ($253.69 million), Turkey ($219 million) and the US ($190.1 million).
