Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan intend to increase mutual trade volume

Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan agreed to consider the issue of expanding mutual supplies of finished products in the first quarter of 2015 at a recent meeting of the Uzbek-Kazakh intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation.

The expansion of bilateral trade-economic cooperation was the main topic of this meeting, the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade told Trend.
In particular, the sides discussed the aspects of the Kazakh-Uzbek cooperation in the water-energy sector, agro-industrial complex, industrial and gas spheres.

Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan must intensify the areas related to the expansion of the range. In particular, Uzbekistan can create favorable conditions to purchase the goods of famous brands, produced in the country, the participants of the meeting said.

Kazakh First Deputy Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev and Uzbek First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Rustam Azimov attended the meeting.

According to the Uzbek State Statistics Committee, the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 18 percent up to $3.244 billion in 2013 compared to 2012. The trade turnover increased by 25 percent up to $ 3.1 billion for 10 months of this year compared to the same period of last year. Kazakhstan is among the top three trade partners of Uzbekistan with a share of 14.4 percent of a total volume of the foreign trade turnover.

Uzbekistan mainly exports natural gas, foodstuffs and chemical products to Kazakhstan.

Uzbekistan mainly imports foodstuffs, ferrous and non-ferrous metals and chemical products from Kazakhstan.

There are 180 enterprises with Kazakh capital in Uzbekistan, including 152 joint ventures and 28 companies with Kazakh capital.

The representative offices of four Kazakh firms and companies were accredited at the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade.
