Azerbaijan, Serbia to mull prospects for economic co-op

Azerbaijan and Serbia will discuss the prospects for the economic cooperation, a diplomatic source told Trend on Jan.12.

The negotiations will be held during the visit of Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to Azerbaijan. During the visit of the prime minister, it is also planned to hold Azerbaijani-Serbian business forum.

The preparations for the visit have been recently discussed between Serbian prime minister and Azerbaijani ambassador to this country Eldar Hasanov.

The sides emphasized the importance of Azerbaijan's participation in the implementation of new infrastructure projects in Serbia and expressed interest in cooperation in agriculture.

Serbian prime minister expressed satisfaction with the activities of Azerbaijani companies operating in this country.

"Serbia is a country with great potential in economic and financial spheres," Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic earlier said.

"We are very interested in Azerbaijani investments, especially, in energy and infrastructure spheres, where we already have joint projects that can be a proof of the successful cooperation."

He said Serbia shows interest in the great potential of cooperation in the spheres of construction, information and communication technologies, medicines and medical equipment, food sphere, tourism and others.
