Turkish police to use weapons of local production

Turkish police will use locally produced weapons - pistols "Canik TP9," the agency Anadolu said Jan.12.

For this purpose, the Turkish province of Samsun began domestic production of the pistols, according to the agency.

It also reported that initially, the pistols will be produced in limited numbers - 25,000 pieces.

The terms of introduction of this weapon to the Turkish police are not reported.

In addition, the sale of pistols to neighboring countries is planned in the future.

Turkey intends to sell 80 percent of domestic pistols to neighboring countries, according to the report.

"Canik TP9" gun has a 19 millimeters caliber, with a length of 181 mm, its height is 145 mm.

The pistol weighs 645 grams, the barrel length is 104 mm.

It is reported that the gun holds 15 bullets.
