Number of Internet subscribers in Kazakhstan exceeds 2 million

The number of Internet subscribers in Kazakhstan is equal to 2.1 million, the country's Ranking.kz analytical service said.

"A third of all 2.1 million subscribers are from Almaty," analysts said. "Some 736,000 subscribers have been registered in the southern capital."

The share of the megalopolis has increased from 34.7 percent to 35.1 percent in a year, according to the analysts.

"However, the Akmola province is the leader for the penetration rate of the worldwide network," experts said. "In total, the number of worldwide network subscribers has increased by 166,500 in a year."

At the same time, the annual growth rate of the number of worldwide network subscribers in Kazakhstan are slowing down. The number of subscribers has increased by 8.6 percent in 2014. By comparison, this figure was equal to 17 percent as of 2013, 27.7 percent - 2012 and 33.3 percent - as of 2011.

Kazakhstan's population nears 17.4 million.
