Foreign trade surplus exceeds $12B in Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee announced a decrease in the volume of foreign trade operations by 10.58 percent in 2014 compared to the same period of last year, the committee said Jan. 16.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners for this period numbered 150 countries.

The total trade turnover of Azerbaijan hit $31.02 billion, according to the report.
Black ink worth over $12.6 billion was formed in foreign trade operations.

Foreign trade surplus was $12.26 billion in 2013.

About 6,372 legal and physical entities were involved in foreign economic activities during this period, 3,727 being legal entities and 2,645 physical entities, according to the report.

Exports reached $21.8 billion in January-December, which is 8.95 percent less compared to the same period of 2013.

The public sector share in export operations was estimated at $20.48 billion, the private sector share - $1.121 billion and physical entities' share- $226.2 million.

Imports exceeded $9.2 billion as of 2014, which is 14.22 percent less compared to the same period of 2013.

The public sector share in import operations was estimated at nearly $2.34 billion, private sector share- $6.48 billion and physical entities share - $364.2 million.

About 2,151 kinds of goods were exported from Azerbaijan and 6,146 imported to Azerbaijan in January-December.
