By Huseyn Valiyev - Trend:

The State Fund for Development of Information Technologies under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and High Technologies will finance the deployment of the country's LED production (Light-emitting diode) in 2015, the fund told Trend.

The project will be implemented by the Azerbaijani Research Center for High Technologies and South Korea's LG company.

The LED mass production is expected to be deployed on the basis of the Hi-Tech Park. Currently, the country uses the LED production technology, the Research Center told Trend earlier.

The use of LED technologies is primarily envisaged for street lighting in the capital of Azerbaijan. An LED lighting system is planned to be used for decorative and general lighting of architectural buildings, streets, parks and main roads.

The project is commercial. After meeting the needs of the republic, the technologies are planned to be delivered to international markets.

Solid-state lighting is energy efficient and environmentally friendly, as opposed to ordinary incandescent bulbs, and allows saving up to 80 percent of consumed energy.
