Turkey halted all traffic through the Marmaray railway tunnel due to the danger of a possible explosion, Kanal7 TV channel reported Jan. 19.
Reportedly, a suspicious package, similar to an explosive device was found at one of the stations, and all passengers were evacuated.
But a thorough check by the security forces established that the suspicious package was a passengers forgotten bag. Traffic through the railway tunnel was resumed after a complete check of the item.
On Jan. 18, a noise grenade blew up near a transformer substation on the Milliyet Street of Istanbul's Fatih district.
That explosion caused no casualties.
On the same day, a suspicious package was found at the municipal police department in the Turkish city of Maltepe.
