Georgia slightly reduces import of goods from Azerbaijan

Georgia imported $637.59 million worth of products from Azerbaijan in 2014, Georgian National Statistics Office (GeoStat) said in its report on 2014.

The report said that the volume of import to Georgia from Azerbaijan decreased by 2.4 percent in a year. By comparison, Georgia imported $652.9 million worth of Azerbaijani goods in Jan.-Dec. 2013.

Azerbaijan ranks third among the countries from which Georgia imports products. The share of Azerbaijani export in the total volume of goods imported to Georgia is 7.4 percent.

Georgia imports most part of goods from Turkey. The volume of Georgian import from Turkey stood at $1.7 billion or 20.1 percent of the total volume of import in 2014. China ranks second with $732.96 million and with 8.5-percent share in the total volume of Georgian import.

Georgia mainly imports gas, petroleum products, electricity and other products from Azerbaijan.
