Turkey, Iran, Malaysia and Indonesia can create a joint venture (JV) for vehicle manufacturing, Seyed Ali Mohammad Mousavi, secretary general of the Economic Cooperation Organization 'Islamic Group of Eight" (D-8) said.
He said all the four countries have great potential for manufacturing vehicles, Anadolu agency reported on Jan.27.
It is time for these countries to think over the creation of a JV for vehicle manufacturing, said Mousavi, without providing additional information about the creation of the JV.
The secretary general said that D-8 also highly appreciates Turkey's plans for manufacturing domestic vehicles.
Turkey ranks sixth in Europe for motor vehicle production. The cars of Ford, FIAT, Renault, Toyota, Honda, Opel, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and MAN brands are assembled in Turkey.
Turkey also manufactures buses of domestic brands, such as BMC, Temsa and Otokar.
