Uzbekistan’s insurers increase collection of premiums by third in 2014

According to the preliminary data, the insurance companies of Uzbekistan increased the collection of insurance premiums by 29 percent up to 436.1 billion soums in 2014 compared to 2013, a representative of financial circles of Uzbekistan told Trend Jan. 28.

As of 2014, the amount of premiums collected in voluntary insurance increased by 27.8 percent - up to 300.9 billion soums, while in compulsory insurance - by 31.3 percent (to 135.2 billion soums).

Aggregate payments of Uzbekistan's insurers increased by 8.1 percent - to 72.4 billion soums in 2014. The amount of voluntary insurance payments decreased by 6.3 percent - to 44.8 billion soums, while compulsory insurance increased by 44.5 percent (to 27.6 billion soums).

Currently, there are 31 insurance companies on the insurance market of Uzbekistan, including three life insurance companies and 28 general insurance companies.

The official exchange rate is 2436,16 soums /$1 Jan. 29.
