Baku, Azerbaijan, Feb.6
By Emil Ismayilov - Trend:

The annual growth of electricity generation in Azerbaijan is directly related to the industrialization process that is currently going on in the country, Azerenerji JSC told Trend on Feb.6.
Azerenerji JSC is the main producer of electricity in Azerbaijan.

"The electricity generation increases year-on-year," said the company. "The increase in electricity production can be observed as of January 2015 as well."

Azerenerji JSC generated nearly 22.7 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in 2014, compared to over 21.5 billion kilowatt hours in 2013. The company produced around 2.3 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in January 2015, compared to about 2.2 billion kilowatt hours in January 2014.

Regarding the forecasts for electricity generation in 2015, the company said that the volume of electricity generation always depends on demand. In this case, it depends on the demand of the country and demand for electricity within the operations on the flow of electricity to neighboring countries, according to the company.

"It is difficult to talk about the forecasts, since electricity is generated in the required volume," said the company.

The growth of consumption in the domestic market is the result of the increase in the number of industrial enterprises, that's to say the process of industrialization, according to the company.

The capacity of the power plants owned by Azerenerji JSC exceeds 7,000 megawatt.

Azerenerji JSC owns over 200 substations with the capacity of 500, 330, 220 and 110 kilovolt-amperes, as well as 14 hydro power plants and 14 thermal power plants.
