Foreign trade surplus exceeds $700M in Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee announced a decrease in the volume of foreign trade operations by 23.05 percent in January 2015 compared to the same period of last year, the committee said Feb. 19.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners for this period numbered 99 countries.

The total trade turnover of Azerbaijan hit $1.85 billion in January 2015, according to the report.
Black ink worth over $703.59 million was formed in foreign trade operations.

Foreign trade surplus was $1.34 billion in January 2014.

About 1,783 legal and physical entities were involved in foreign economic activities during this period, 1,327 being legal entities and 456 physical entities, according to the report.

Exports reached $1.28 billion in January 2015, which is 31.7 percent less compared to the same period of 2014.

The public sector share in export operations was estimated at $1.18 billion, the private sector share - $86.76 million and physical entities' share- $7.1 million.

Imports exceeded $574.22 million on the results of January, 2015, which is 7.16 percent more compared to the same period of January, 2014.

The public sector share in import operations was estimated at nearly $104.3 million, private sector share- $438.5 million and physical entities share - $31.4 million.

About 516 kinds of goods were exported from Azerbaijan and 3, 251 imported to Azerbaijan in January 2015.
