Some 27 insurance companies collected premiums worth 62.9 million manats (AZN) in Azerbaijan in January 2015 or by 2.9 percent more than in the same period of last year, head of Azerbaijan Insurers Association Orhan Bayramov said at a press conference on Feb. 23.
The official exchange rate is 1.05 AZN/USD on Feb. 23.
He said that the growth was mainly provided at the expense of the non-life types of insurance.
The companies made the insurance payments worth around 10.3 million manats in the reporting period or by 27.8 percent more than in January last year.
Around 16.4 manats payments account for every 100 AZN of collected insurance premiums. This index was 13.2 manats in January 2014.
