The sales of new cars in Kazakhstan have dropped by as much as 30 percent in Jan. 2015, compared to the same period of 2014, Kazakhstan Today reported with the reference to Kazakhstan's Auto Business Association.

"The fall in sales in car market hit 40.42 percent compared to December of 2014 and 28.53 percent compared to Jan. 2014," Kazakhstan's Auto Business Association said.

Official dealers sold 7,774 new cars and trucks in Jan. 2015.

The decrease in sales resulted from the flow of cheap cars from Russia.

"Russian dealers had an advantage as a result of a significant devaluation of ruble," Kazakhstan's Auto Business Association said.

Sales of domestically manufactured cars decreased by 62.21 in the reporting period compared to the same period of 2014. Just 12.04 percent of all the cars sold in January were produced in Kazakhstan.

In monetary terms, official sales of new cars decreased by11.53 percent to $205.7 million.
