Internet providers’ revenues increase in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan's Internet providers earned 31.4 billion tenge (185.35 tenge = $ 1) for the first two months of 2015 or by 5.5 billion more than in January-February 2014, Ranking.kz analytical service said.

A three-quarter of the annual increase was ensured by the megacities. The revenues of Almaty's Internet providers increased by 3.1 billion tenge (22.1 percent) to 17.2 billion, Astana - 1.3 billion tenge (34.5 percent) to 4.9 billion, the Almaty region - by 199.8 million tenge (27 percent) to 0.9 billion.

The number of subscribers in Kazakhstan increased by 152,000 to 2.1 million (by 7.8 percent) for the year, the report said.

Besides Almaty, the largest growth in Internet connection was observed in East Kazakhstan region - 14,800 (13.2 percent) to 127,300 subscribers, Almaty region - 13,800 (13 percent) up to 120,000 subscribers and Akmola region - 10,600 (13.3 percent) to 90,600 subscribers.
