Novorossiysk port increases oil transshipment

Russia's Novorossiysk International Trade Sea Port transshipped 13.02 million metric tons of oil in January-February 2015, or 4 percent more than in January-February 2014 (12.52 million metric tons), a message posted on Novorossiysk port's website said on Mar.17.

The Novorossiysk port transshipped 5.56 million metric tons of petroleum products during the reporting period, which is 21.8 percent (1 million metric tons) more than in January-February 2014, according to the message.

In total, the port transshipped 23.3 million metric tons of various cargoes in January-February 2015, which is 8 percent more than in January-February 2014, according to the port's website.

In 2014, Novorossiysk shipped 72.78 million metric tons of oil compared to 91.74 million metric tons in 2013. The Novorossiysk port shipped 27.78 million metric tons of petroleum products during the reporting period compared to 24.2 million metric tons in 2013. Around 122.09 million metric tons of various cargo were transported in 2014 compared to around 129.48 million metric tons in 2013.

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) ships its own oil through the Novorossiysk port. Oil is delivered to the port via the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline.
