The ambassador arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the annual regional meeting of heads of the OSCE field missions in Central Asia.

During the meeting, the sides discussed a wide range of issues that are important for cooperation in the energy sector, including the provision of the necessary conditions for the development of the energy sector, strengthening regional energy cooperation, security and reliability of energy supplies and energy infrastructure.

The sides confirmed the importance and prospects of further development of cooperation, the basis of which is the accumulated positive experience of partnership on a wide range of areas, the message said.

The message also said that Turkmenistan consistently advocates for the successful promotion of a constructive dialogue with the OSCE, which is being developed on the principles of mutual respect, trust and understanding, as well as support for joint initiatives aimed at effective settlement of actual problems of global development.

Turkmenistan joined OSCE on January 30, 1992. Several large international forums of OSCE and UN, including those on energy security have been recently held in Ashgabat.

Turkmenistan ranks fourth for its natural gas reserves in the world and currently, it exports its gas to China, CIS countries and Iran. The possibility of constructing gas pipelines from Turkmenistan to the markets of South Asia and Europe is also under consideration.
