Some 1,071 cars worth a total of $19.82 million, were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in Jan.-Feb. 2015, Georgian National Statistics Office (GeoStat) said in its report on the first two months of 2015.

The share of this category of goods in the total volume of Georgian export to Azerbaijan stood at 43.2 percent during the reporting period, according to GeoStat.

This is while Azerbaijan's share in the export of this category of goods from Georgia equaled 48.8 percent.

The volume of car export to Azerbaijan decreased by 45.9 percent in terms of value and by 3,651 (77.3 percent) in terms of quantity compared to the same period of 2014.
By comparison, some 4,722 cars worth of $36.63 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in Jan.-Feb. 2014.

The decline in the volume of car exports to the country is the result of Azerbaijan's transition to Euro-4 ecological standard, the use of which began from April 1, 2014. The adoption of Euro-4 standard significantly restricts the import of used cars which account for the major part of vehicles exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan.
Cars are delivered to Georgia from abroad.

Azerbaijan accounted for 14.2 percent of Georgia's export volume in Jan.-Feb. 2015. Around $45.9 million worth of goods were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in the first two months of 2015.

The country's export to Azerbaijan decreased by 38.4 percent compared to the same period of 2014. By comparison, some $74.5 million worth of Georgian goods were exported to Azerbaijan in Jan.-Feb. 2014.
