Uzbekistan's cabinet of ministers adopted the 'Decree on measures for further development of the MAN heavy-load vehicles production', under which the Uzbek-German joint venture, MAN Auto-Uzbekistan, will in 2016 launch an enterprise in the Samarkand region to produce cabins for heavy-load trucks.

The decree stipulates that the MAN Truck&Bus AG, a division of MAN group companies, and Uzavtoprom will realize a project to launch the production of cabins for the MAN heavy-load vehicles at the MAN Auto-Uzbekistan JV. JV MAN Auto-Uzbekistan is the customer.

Given that MAN Truck&Bus AG is the owner of the production technology and 'know-how' for the production of MAN heavy vehicles' cabins, the government allowed to carry out the project's development without an initial feasibility study.

The equipment and accessories, necessary for the project's realization and imported to the country, are exempt from all customs duties under the government decision.

At the same time, it was allowed to purchase the equipment and accessories for the production of cabins without tenders, "by signing contracts with manufacturers, recommended by MAN Truck&Bus AG".

An extract of the document was published, and it doesn't indicate the design capacity of the production and its cost.

Uzbekistan's 2015 investment program includes a project for launching a process of assembly of the vehicle cabs at the JV MAN Auto-Uzbekistan. Its cost is $16 million, while the design capacity is 3,000 units per year.
