The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution whereby the technical documentation on marking of household appliances must contain the information about the class of their energy efficiency from January 1, 2016.

The energy efficiency of the household appliances will be indicated by seven classes, namely, A, B, C, D, E, F, G in accordance with the resolution on "Measures for the introduction of a system of mandatory energy marking and certification of energy consumption figures of home appliances and newly constructed buildings and structures". In this case, household appliances with maximum energy efficiency refer to A class, while household appliances with minimum energy efficiency to G class.

The resolution also envisages the additional energy efficiency classes - A + and A ++, which can be used in case the energy efficiency is much higher than that set for A class.

Starting from 2016, the import of electrical appliances that do not contain information about the energy efficiency class, in the technical documentation accompanying them, their labeling and labels to Uzbekistan is prohibited, and starting from July 2016 - their sale is illegal, according to the document.

This requirement will apply to refrigerators and freezers, domestic washing machines, laundry conditioners, household air conditioners and fans, stationary electric stoves, electric oven, dishwashers, microwave ovens, televisions, electric water heaters, heating electrical appliances, monitors and lamps.

At the same time, electrical appliances, placed to the customs regimes "temporary storage" and "customs warehouse" before January 1, 2016 as an exception may be released for free circulation and sold prior to July 1, 2016.

The import and sale of household electric appliances with "G" class energy efficiency in Uzbekistan will be banned from January 1, 2017, "F" class - from January 1, 2018 and "E" class - from January 1, 2019.

The sale and storage of household electric appliances not containing information about the energy efficiency class will be considered as a violation of trade rules (sale of goods without documents) and measures of responsibility will be taken in accordance with the law, said the decree.

Uzbekistan's government also ordered the State Committee for Architecture and Construction to revise the urban planning norms and rules within six months to find out whether they contain the relevant requirements on energy efficiency for the newly constructed buildings and facilities.
