Kazakh National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna intends to establish a subsidiary company Samruk Innovation in the Silicon Valley of the USA (California), said the press service of the fund April 13.

The message said that the possibility of creating such a company was considered within the framework of the visit of working group leaders of a number of companies Samruk-Kazyna to Silicon Valley under the chairmanship of the Fund Umirzak Shukeyev held April 9-10.

The working group familiarized itself with the work of Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley, as well as such well-known innovative companies, as Tesla Motors, SolarCity and other start-up companies. The sides discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the development of clean energy, gas chemistry, transport, medicine, agriculture, education, and IT.

Activity of Samruk-Kazyna group of companies was presented, information about the upcoming international specialized exhibition Astana EXPO-2017, "green" quarter project in Astana, the project for the production of solar panels Kaz PV was provided during the working visit.

Representatives of Stanford, SolarCity and Motors were invited to Kazakhstan to participate in Astana Economic Forum to be held in May this year, and to discuss joint projects within the framework of preparation for Astana EXPO-2017.

This proposal was met with interest in the business and academic circles of Silicon Valley. Several options for cooperation beyond participation were developed at the meeting with a member of the board of directors of SolarCity and CEO of Motors Elon Musk.
