Turkey intends to strengthen relations with Turkic-speaking countries - expert

The Turkish president's visit to Kazakhstan has clearly testified that Ankara intends to strengthen relations with Turkic-speaking countries, Doctor of International Relations at Gazi University (Ankara) Firat Purtas told Trend April 16.

He said that after the ruling Justice and Development Party came to power, the Turkic-speaking countries acquired special importance for Ankara.

He also said that that Turkey currently supports all Turkic-speaking countries. It is actively involved in their integration into the world community.

Purtas said that Ankara's policy concerning the Turkic-speaking countries will remain unchanged.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's state visit to Kazakhstan lasted until April 17.

The Turkish president was accompanied by a representative delegation.

More than 1,800 Turkish companies operate in Kazakhstan. This figure exceeds the number of other foreign companies operating in the country. The total value of the projects implemented by Turkish contractors in Kazakhstan is about $17.5 billion.

The trade turnover between the two countries has doubled for the past three years - from $2 to $4 billion. This figure is planned to be increased up to $10 billion as part of the "New Synergy" program, adopted by the presidents of Turkey and Kazakhstan.
