A meeting of the lenders of the Tashkent Tractor Plant, the oldest agricultural engineering enterprise in Uzbekistan, decided on Apr. 20 to liquidate it, a source in Uzbekistan's government circles told Trend.

The source said the lenders also agreed to appeal to the court for the approval of this decision.

It was previously reported that in March, the Tashkent Economic Court started a monitoring procedure in respect of the Tashkent Tractor Plant.

In May 2014, Uzbekistan's President Islam Karimov signed a decree on the creation of an agro-engineering holding company, Uzagroprommashholding, which is to unite the country's agricultural engineering enterprises.

Under the decree, the holding will include the Tashkent Factory of Agricultural Machinery, producing tractors, trailers and cotton pickers, created in the place of the liquidated Tashkent Tractor Plant.

Tashkent Tractor Plant, specializing in the production of universal tractor-cultivators and cotton agriculture tractors, was created in 1942 in the place of an enterprise evacuated during the Great Patriotic War (WWII).
