Tariffs for electricity consumption by population in Uzbekistan will increase by 7.4 percent to 155 soums per kilowatt hour from the current 144.3 soums, said the Uzbek State Joint-Stock Company, Uzbekenergo.

Uzbekenergo also said that in the houses equipped with electric stoves, the cost of one kilowatt hour will rise from 72.15 soums to 77.5 soums.

According to Uzbekistan's national holding company, Uzbekneftegaz, the natural gas tariffs for population and enterprises will rise on May 15 by 7.2 percent.

In case if a counter is installed, the value of one cubic meter of natural gas supplied to the population will be 194.7 soums versus 181.62 soums, and if a counter isn't installed, the price of a cubic meter of gas will rise from 314.1 soums to 336,7 soums.

The Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan approved the new prices for electricity and gas according to Uzbekenergo and Uzbekneftegaz.

As it was reported earlier, starting from May 15, the cold-water tariffs will increase in Uzbekistan on average by nine percent, and the tariffs for the central heating and hot water supply will rise by 11.4 percent.

The last time the prices for these types of utilities increased in Uzbekistan on October 1, 2014.

At the time, the cost of one kilowatt hour of electricity was increased by 9.8 percent, natural gas - by 9.9 percent for population and enterprises, the central heating and hot water supply - by 7.2 percent, and the cold water supply prices rose by 5.4 percent.

The official exchange rate as of May 5 is 2517.80 soums/$1.
