Over 16% of bank loans account for Azerbaijan’s districts

The loans given to the population in Azerbaijan's districts totaled 3.430 billion manat as of January-April 2015, or 16.7 percent of the banks' total loan portfolio, the report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan says.

The figure hit 17.165 billion manat in Baku in January-April. Here the loans in national currency (manat) amounted to 9.508 billion manat.

In January-April 2015, the average interest rate on loans throughout the country was 13.3 percent, while in Baku this index stood at 12.2 percent.

The lending volume in the Absheron Economic district totaled 667.2 million manat at an average rate of 19.6 percent.

In other economic districts the lending index was as follows: Aran - 857.1 million manat at a rate of 23.2 percent, Mountainous Shirvan - 117.7 million manat at a rate of 23.6 percent, Ganja-Gazakh - 756.1 million manat at a rate of 9.8 percent, Guba-Khachmaz - 281.8 million manat at a rate of 20.6 percent, Lankaran - 307.7 million manat at a rate of 23.9 percent, Shaki-Zagatala - 239.2 million manat at a rate of 21 percent, the Upper Karabakh - 63.2 million manat at a rate of 18.7 percent, Kalbajar-Lachin - 9.2 million manat at a rate of 19.7 percent, Nakhchivan - 131.2 million manat at a rate of 13.4 percent.

There are 45 banks in Azerbaijan, two of which are state banks.
