Uzbekistan to start producing drilling rigs

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, June 10

The State Committee for Geology and Mineral Resources of Uzbekistan and South Korea's Hanjin D&B established a joint venture for the production of drilling rigs, the State Committee of Uzbekistan told Trend.

The Hanjin D&B Drilling Equipments joint venture was created on a parity basis, according to the State Committee representative.

At the first stage, the design capacity of the joint venture will amount to 10 drilling rigs per year.

Currently, construction of the plant has already begun in Tashkent, and its commissioning is scheduled for December 2015. At the initial stage, the volume of investment in the project will amount to $1 million.

Drilling rigs will be sold on the domestic market of Uzbekistan to the mining industry enterprises, including the Almalyk and Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combines.

In the future, it is planned to increase the capacity of the enterprise for the sale of products for export.
