The chambers of commerce and industry of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan have signed a cooperation agreement in Baku.

The document was signed following the meeting between the heads of the two countries' chambers of commerce and industry Niyaz Alizade from Azerbaijan and Sharif Said from Tajikistan.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the possibilities of creating the Economic Council of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the message posted on the website of Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The sides focused on the prospects for the bilateral trade and economic cooperation, Tajikistan's Chamber of Commerce and Industry said.

Moreover, they touched upon the possibility of cooperating in oil and gas and energy spheres, industry and construction industry, transport sector, mining and tourism.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan stood at $2.82 million in 2014, according to Azerbaijan's State Customs Committee. Azerbaijan's export to Tajikistan accounted for $2.64 million.
