A law on urban planning has entered into force in Turkmenistan, a document published by the media says.

This law establishes the legal, economic and organizational basis of the relations arising while implementing the urban planning.

The quality of construction work on the facilities which are being constructed, their architectural design, reliability and safety of buildings, environmental issues must strictly comply with the state urban planning regulations and rules, technical regulations, Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary state news agency said.

The new law covers the main areas of urban planning.

The total cost of buildings being constructed in Turkmenistan under contract today exceeds $50 billion. Among the large projects is the construction of the Turkmenbashi international sea port, and the Olympic Village in Ashgabat.
